I went to the Chiang Mai Immigration Department to do 90-days. The staff asked me to print out my e-visa, but I didn't have one. I applied for a DTV visa in Laos through an agency. Do you need to print out your e-visa when doing 90-days?
Answer summary
A user at the Chiang Mai Immigration Department inquired about the necessity of printing out an e-visa when applying for a 90-day extension. Confusion arose since the user applied for a DTV visa in Laos through an agency and didn't possess an e-visa. Community responses highlighted that the user indeed had a DTV visa stamped in their passport, which confirmed entry into Thailand without needing the e-visa. An immigration officer initially requested the e-visa but later established that the stamp sufficed, illustrating the complexities and inconsistencies in visa policies.

ahh. I didn’t see that part. He specifically did say it was e-visa,

I also have a sticker. But that means he has had his DTV for almost 2 years. Last embassy that did in person application was Jakarta. Until October 2024. Where got mine in September 24

OP
Thank you everyone for your replies. I have a DTV visa stamped on my passport because I applied for and retrieved the passport with the DTV stamp in person at the Thai consulate in Laos. Today was a pleasant day. While waiting for my agent's reply (which took over an hour), I curiously went to the visa application counter next door to ask the agent. She said that since I had the DTV stamp, I didn't need an e-visa. When I went back to ask the staff, she was initially very impatient and said I didn't understand. Later, I showed her the DTV stamp on my passport again, and her attitude improved. It turned out she hadn't checked carefully, but she didn't apologize for her mistake. Because I'm often away from Thailand, I hadn't done the 90-days for two years, and I thought the policy had changed. The last 15 minutes were spent completing the 90-days, but it took me almost two hours.

CopperEagle3700 thanks for your helpful reply. Now I understand you had a STICKER Visa placed in your passport. No Evisa possible.

CopperEagle3700 - so you are one of the few that have a DTV visa in their passport. They stopped issuing visa stamps back in 2024, so that is the confusion. Most people will have an e-visa. I too have a visa stamp, as I got mine in September 2024

OP
DTV_BegPecker Yes, I successfully applied in September 2024. So, there's no longer a DTV stamp on the passport after that? Thank you for your explanation; I've learned something new. 😊

CopperEagle3700 I did my 90 days last Friday in Chiang Mai walk through. Yes they check the visa stamp in passport and entry. All I handed over was TM47 and TM30 along with passport.

If immigration asked for it, I would suppose that it is a requirement!! Facebook will not change that

I suggest you contact your Thai Visa Agent and ask for a complete copy of the DTV visa application.

Your DTV Visa is in an email from the Thai Embassy to the email address submitted with your DTV Visa Application.....

How long were you in VIENTIANE while your DTV application was pending approval?

Did you pay for the DTV visa fee in person at the Thai Embassy in VIENTIANE ?

When you first arrived in Thailand from Vientiane, did the Thai Immigration Officer stamp you in for 180 days ?

Did you receive a full page document (via email) that looks like this on the top? You would have needed it to enter Thailand and for the Immigration officer at the airport / border to know you had a DTV.

What do you mean you don't have a digital copy of your DTV? It's an e-visa. It's only delivered by mail.
