Has anyone applied for the DTV in Thailand and then left and come back to activate it? I probably won’t do this, but wondering if anyone has had success. Since I’m already here would just save a lot of time and money. I know there’s a risk that they ask for all my passport pages or proof of flights, etc.. I’m just wondering if anyone else has done it.

My friend applied outside the country but then came here and got approved while here and it was fine. She just left on a border run and stamped back in with six month DTV yesterday.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while already in Thailand and the potential risks involved. Many commenters strongly advise against applying from within Thailand, stating that applications must be made outside the country at a consulate. They also warn that failing to adhere to this requirement may lead to complications, including the possibility of visa denial or future bans. A few noted successful experiences but emphasized that these are exceptions, not the rule.

No can do, leave Thailand then apply.

even if you were approved now there's no guarantee they won't take away the visa from you in the future for doing this as it clearly states everywhere that you must not be in Thailand when applying. surveillance worldwide is only increasing so why would you take the risk out of sheer laziness

I applied in Thailand through London Embassy. I had to provide my E Flight Ticket and boarding passes for my flight to Ireland. Then they asked for my E Ticket back to Thailand from Ireland and requested that I give them enough time to process my DTV before my flight. All of my documents were submitted from Thailand with the exception of my final flight to Thailand

I just saw a video where a guy did this and he was banned from Thailand for a year. The rule says you must apply outside of Thailand.

Have people got away with murder before? Yes. Does that mean you should do it? No.

You have to leave thailand to process it

You travel outside of Thailand to the location of the consulate you wish to use, apply there and remain there until the process completes. You can't apply from inside Thailand

It’s not ‘a risk they ask for passport pages etc’ they ask for it 100%. It’s part of the application. You have to prove that you are in the country where you are applying.

I wasn't asked either in Australia, just provided my drivers license

they don't necessarily ask, London didn't for me. They had a plane ticket clearly showing I had left Thailand and did want a utility bill with my local address though, as well as a plane ticket back.

They are probably going to want *something* that you won't have if you haven't left Thailand, and then what do you do.

Personally I wouldn't risk it, I'd leave to apply.

the London embassy did not ask for my passport pages when I applied last year and I did not have to prove where I was, just that I have a UK address. Another DTV 'expert' giving unqualified information.
