What is the best way to extend my visa in Thailand, and what are the options for a visa run?

My visa is up at the end of July so I was looking into extending my 180 days but it seems from all the fb groups and reddit its pretty painful and almost like trying to reapply again with all the updated paperwork. So I think people are just opting to leave Thailand and come back again which seems like an easier choice but a bit more expensive. Has anyone done the DTV visa run from Koh Samui to Singapore yet? Every time I go to Samui I just walk off the plane I have never seen the Visa entry area? lol

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is exploring options for extending their 180-day visa in Thailand, finding the process difficult and considering leaving the country for a visa run instead. Comments suggest that flying internationally from Koh Samui will require going through immigration, and there are cheaper options available from places like Krabi. Participants share experiences about the cumbersome paperwork for extensions and advise on alternative travel options.

I did the extension here. I would go to Singapore rather than do it again.

That's because you've only flown domestic to Samui. If there's an international flight, there will be an immigration check.
