Do I need a bank certificate when applying for a retirement visa extension using international transfers in Thailand?

Hello, dear members.

I stay in Thailand now for 5 years on retirement visa.

I renewed myself, without any problem for my wife and myself, who is on my retirement visa too, as following spouse.

Now, I used the first time the 800.000 method. I am tired of not using my money, as I want some works done. The last 2 years, I got an allowance, pay back from a loan every month and come it straight with international to my account. Done the right way.

So I got myself, proof of provenance, from the loan contract, the balance sheet of society owning me, and statement that this is send for living in Thailand from the manager.

I had already a short visit to immigration, and they thought it would be acceptable.

Now my question is related to the bank. I can print of my account the last 12 months. On the statement the transfert is very clear. Do I still need a bank certificate? As the money is not to be required at the account any more, just the statement. If yes, what must I ask for?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has been living in Thailand on a retirement visa for five years and is considering using the 800,000 baht method for renewal. They have received international payments but are unclear if a bank certificate is required for their visa application, given they have documented their income source. A commenter suggests verifying with the embassy about using the monthly transfer method and confirms the need for a bank letter to show account history and a remaining balance of 400,000 baht.

First, you need to check with your embassy in Thailand if they would issue an income affidavit. Some immigration offices don't accept the monthly transfer method when your embassy issues an affidavit.

When you are sure you can use monthly international transfers to meet the financial requirements, you need a bank letter that says you have your bank account and 12 months transactions history.

Remember, You still need to have a balance of 400K baht to meet the requirement for your current stamp.

This time you need to prove both of these.

- 40K baht remaining balance: to maintain your current extension valid

- 12 months history: to apply for a new extension

Thank you, I kept the 800.000 until I renew this month and change to monthly transfer method. I went to immigration, when applied for re entry permit 2 months ago, and they said, that bankstatement is fine and not need from embassy. In my case impossible, my income is payback from a loan, and it not taxable.
