Do I need to file a TM30 form after my border run in Thailand?

Hi all, a little confused on TM30's.

I'm dutch, I entered Chiang Mai with no visa (just my passport) and was given 45 days. I plan to leave for a few days and come back for another 45 if possible, and then extend for 30 after that.

I've just been booking random AirBNB's, will I need to do some sort of TM30 form for when I do my first border run after y 45 days are up, or can I enter again no problem?

Thanks for the help! Love Thailand and want to make sure I respect immigration rules as much as possible.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form may be required for your visa extension, even if you do a border run after your initial 45 days in Thailand. It's the responsibility of your accommodation provider to file the TM30 within 24 hours of your arrival. While some Airbnb hosts may not comply with this requirement, it's best to check with them. Additionally, be aware that entry requirements can be stricter during your border run, so consider staying longer than a few days.

do to more strict entry requirements when you do your border run you may want to stay more than a few days.

moeilijk te zeggen. if it’s you first time you can just take a couple days. If you do this a second or a third time consecutively then you may take a week

You will only need the TM30 for when you do your extension - CM Immigration insists on it. Legally, the accommodation provider is meant to file one within 24 hours of your arrival but not all Airbnbs do.

And, if it wasn't timely done (for you), then CM will make you pay Fine of 2,000 Baht.

Thanks Duncan, appreciate it! Another commenter said I should wait several days before coming back on my border run, is it the case that I can't leave and come back the same day anymore?

would depend on your visa/entry history. Presuming you don't have one before now, it won't be a problem crossing into Laos at the Chiang Khong/Huay Xai border and coming straight back. If you have a history of COVID extensions or volunteer visas, different considerations.

Jo is right but only the if you've already done one or two bounces (including flying out and then coming back - there's a limit of two per year at a land border), then you really should take a break before returning.

Gotcha! Yeah this is my first time ever in Thailand and I'm just here on my dutch passport (no visa) so it would be my first time. Assuming should be okay to come back the next day? Thanks so much btw!
