Do I need to do a 90-days report if I leave Thailand shortly before it's due and plan to return?

Hi, my next 90-days notification is due at 27th of November. I fly back to Europe on 1st of Devember and come back to Thailand around January/Febtuary (I’ll get a re-entry stamp). Do I need to do a 90-days report in that case? I have heard one can report earliest 14 days before and latest 7 days to the due date. What is a rule of thumb for the 90-days report in the case of traveling out and in? Thanks in advance :))

TLDR : Answer Summary
To comply with the 90-days report rule in Thailand, you must report if you are in the country when the due date arrives. In your case, since your 90-days notification is due on November 27th, and you will be leaving on December 1st, you should report before your departure. The reporting window is from 14 days before to 7 days after the due date. Not reporting could lead to fines of up to 2000 baht during your next immigration interactions, including applications or re-entering Thailand.

let's see if I can't clear it up.

The RULE is if you're in thailand when a 90 day report is due you report. If you're not you don't

The WINDOW to report is person is 2 weeks before down to 1 weeks after your due date.

That has nothing to do with your due date, and if you're IN the country you report.

There is no "I had other things to do" so didn't report option. You have from the 13th of Nov until you fly out to report.

As people pointed out, when you return your 90 day report will be due 89 days from the date you stamp in AND if you don't report this time there is a good chance the officer will see your previous 90 day report was due BEFORE you exited the country and you didn't do it and they can fine you 2000baht for failure to file a 90 day report on time and then let you file your next report

Thanks, pretty clear! I was confused by the window to report and I though if I leave Thailand in the window, I don’t need to report. Technically, the day I am still eligible for a penalty-free report I’ll be already out. That confused me. Thanks for clarification.

You're still not getting it

, 😕

That is a definite NO 😮 "technically" you are NOT eligible for the penalty free anything at all

The 21 day "window of opportunity" that you can report in is NOT a grace period 😮 If you leave during that "or up to 7 days after the report is due" part of the window to report it does not mean you don't need to report.

One final time,

IF you are in the country on the date your 90 day report is due you report, period, end of story

well explained as usual.

It takes 2 minutes to do the report online, you want to risk a fine and trying to argue fine points with an immigration officer who couldn't care less about your point?

While true and reasonable, it does not answer my question.

it does however potentially save you money and your time

You are supposed to report before you leave. If not and if the officer found out you didn't report you may or may not be fined for 2000thb for failing 90 days report on the next occasion you do some application.

90 days report is for reporting about that you have been in Thailand for 90 consecutive days since the last entry or reporting day. You have 15 days before until 7 days after (in case reporting in person at the immigration office) the due date to report that you are/were/would be in Thailand on xx date as the 90th day.

You don't get it. It's not an edge situation.

You ARE in Thailand on 27th November, the 90th day. You have the reporting window from 13th November to 4th December to report that you are in Thailand on 27th November. If you don't report that you are in Thailand on 27th November between 13th November to 4th December, You will be fined (if the officer catches it).

I get it now. The wording matters: I am supposed to report in the 13th November - 4th December window THAT I’ve been to Thailand ON 27th November. So 27th Novermber is NOT the 90 days due date, but the effective day the reporting is about. Am I right?

is there a reason why you don’t want to report before you leave?

@Dick *******
Yes, as I have other things to do. That’s why I wanted to know the rules in depth.

@Nikolas **************
ya. Like the amount of time you spent on this thread took more time than reporting online

Thanks for the answer, but you might not get it. I know the rules, but I try to apply them to my edge sitution: The point is 1st of December falls into the 14-days-before and 7-days-after. So the range I can report myself is from 13th of November to 4th of December. I fly out 1st of December which falls into the 21 days span. I will be in Europe already at the latest possible date to report without penalty (4th of December).
