Do we need to cancel our volunteer visa and work permits before leaving Thailand?

Hi Tod and group! We have a one year volunteer multi entry visa, which ends in August, as well as work permits which expire in November. We are leaving the country in July for hopefully just one year before returning. Do we need to cancel out our visas and/or work permits or can we simply let them run out after our exit?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the necessity of canceling their volunteer multi-entry visa and work permits before leaving Thailand for a year. The comments suggest that if they are on a yearly visa extension requiring 90-day reporting, they should cancel it; however, if on a multi-entry visa with border crossings every 90 days, they may not need to cancel anything. It is strongly advised to cancel the work permit at the Ministry of Labour.

IF you are on a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office (where you do 90 day reporting) you go cancel your extension

IF you are on a year-long, multi-entry VISA from a thai consulate in another country where you do border bounces every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp you can just leave.

We are on the latter, doing our 90 day border bounces. Ok thanks so much for the helpful info, as always.

definitely cancel your work permit at the Ministry of Labour.

do you exit/re-enter the country every 90 days on your "visa" or do you do 90 day reporting at the immigration office?
