TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, tourists from both Malaysia and Vietnam can apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), which is a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 5 years with each stay lasting up to 180 days. However, it is noted that applying from Vietnam may be faster and more favorable compared to Malaysia.

tourist means you are on 30 days visitor visa in a country and wanted to apply for DTV while travelling. Suppose i am touring Malaysia and wanted to file my case in thai embassy for DTV. This was the base question

Anonymous participant that's how most people do it. Go to a country that gives you 30 days stay and apply as soon as you land.

Anonymous participant Don't. They take forever to approve there. Go to Cambodia, Vietnam or Jakarta.

As a tourist from Malaysia or Vietnam, you can apply for Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). The DTV is a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 5 years, allowing stays of up to 180 days per entry.

regarding the bank statement, do I need to show my 500K balance in my home country’s bank account, or do I need to open an account and deposit this amount in the country where I am applying for the DTV?

It depends on the Thai embassy or consulate where you're applying. Some may accept a home country bank statement, while others may require a local account. I recommend checking with the embassy to confirm their specific requirements.

Why do you need DTV? They list their requirements on the embassy website you are applying from, just need to comply you will be fine.
