Onward ticket questions -

I am traveling to thailand and I am not sure how long I will be staying, but it will be around 30 days.

For visa on arrival, I need an onward ticket? Any of those "onwardticket.com" websites legit? Any actual experience?

For tourist visa, do I need an onward ticket also?

I am undecided how long I will stay so I don't want to book a plane ticket early until I am ready to leave.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers to Thailand often question whether an onward ticket is necessary for entry under various visa types. For visa on arrival, a ticket is commonly required, and many users have successfully used services like onwardticket.com to purchase temporary tickets. Experiences vary, with some travelers reporting that they were not asked for their onward ticket upon arrival. For tourists, an onward ticket may also be required, particularly by airlines during check-in. Overall, it seems prudent to have an onward ticket as a precaution, even if authorities do not always request it.

I've used OnwardTicket twice over the years (most recently 2023).

Both times, it was enough for both the embassy & immigration at passport control.

If you're us passport you won't get visa on arrival. You can enter for 60 days with no visa, that's "visa exempt".

I the past (pre covid) I used bus tickets to satisfy this requirment.

The requirement is that you are ticketed to leave, not that you use the ticket.

Have used 2 of those sites for many years. 12-20 USD gives real live tickets for 48 hours. I usually buy one and I am a constant traveler the last 9 years. It’s cheap insurance to avoid hiccups, I’ve been asked a very few times but I appreciate having it.

I use it because it’s worth a few bucks to me- if I book something I have to remember to cancel it and I have to be so careful that what I’m buying is refundable blah blah blah - I can’t be bothered.

It is your airline when checking in who are most likely to ask. Bestonwardticket is fine to use if you must
