How many consecutive tourist visas can I apply for in Thailand before being denied entry?

Hi everyone! I am new in visa applications process in Thailand, thus I would like to ask you a question: how many times it is possible to make a tourist visa, before being denied entry? For example, would it be possible to stay in the country for 1 year with 4 or 5 consecutive tourist visas? I have heard there is no rule and it depends on the circumstances, but I would like to know your experiences. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discusses the limits and experiences related to applying for consecutive tourist visas in Thailand. It is suggested that while there is no strict limit on the number of consecutive tourist visas, doing so may raise suspicions among immigration officers, potentially leading to denials. Experiences vary, with users suggesting that obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) could allow for longer stays, approximately up to 9 months, if used wisely. Ultimately, individual circumstances and the discretion of immigration officials play significant roles in visa approval and entry.

My BF was scolded for using a 30 day exemption twice😨. By AIR and after spending at least 2 weeks out of country. She scolded him to “next time get the right visa” and typed something into her computer.

I don't know my longest run, I have a few long term visas (marriage, work, volunteer). I have had several back-to-back tourist visas. I don't think I have ever had a visa exempt. I have been here 9 years. They really don't seem to care too much. I have been question twice while coming in (once by land, once by air). Both times the Immigration Officer made comments like "next time you come back...", they knew I am a habitual tourist.

I think the trick is just to not be a jerk (Swiss).

It depends on the mood of visa officers,if you are female then avoid female immigration officers. 😁

Normally not, that's up too long. There's no strict rule on when it will stop, but typically after 6 consecutive months it could get more difficult.

3 months in and 3 months out should work? So 2 stays a year?

This seem to be the case with most countries. I guessing immigration just needs to be satisfied that you are not living or working here.

Six months Multiple Entries Tourist Visa (METV) as you understand is valid for six months and can used the right way give you up to nine months in Thailand. This visa can only be applied for at your home country. For tourist visa several of the surrounding embassies/consulate only issue one tourist visa pr person in a rolling year. There’s no formal restriction for how many tourists visas you can apply for and no one can give you the point you’ll be denied entry. Everything depends on where you are and who you meet that particular day.

The thing is, as far as I understand, the METV can only be done from the country of residence and I am currently in Thailand.... According to you, is there any chance to be denied entry?

correct only in your home country, but it's unlikely you would last longer than 9 months without it. You've already had one entry, I assume on a tourist visa, so 60 days which you can extend at immigration by another 30. 1 more tourist visa from a nearby country should be OK and you can do 2 border bounces per annum by land but you should use a border bounce company for these

That would be highly unlikely these days but if you get a multiple entry tourist visa before you leave your home country you can get almost 9 months out of it if you use it carefully.

As
@John *********
mentioned, the METV is likely best route for you plan of one year. Gets you a little less than 9 months. If you need more, exit the country and apply for tourist visa at nearby Royal Thai embassy or consulate.

Good luck. Embassy can deny tourist visas if you doing them back to back as a way to live there. Your best bet is to travel to nearby country for a few weeks and fly back for another exemption. Multiple back to back exemptions will also get you questioned and possibly denied entry

it might get you questions, but it would be exceptionally rare to be denied.
