Is it possible for me to get a one way ticket to Thailand on a non- immigrant O visa through volunteering at a foundation? Or do you always have to buy two way tickets in order to get a Visa? I want to buy a one way ticket to Chiang Mai because I’m not sure of the exact date I’ll want to return back to the USA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
It is generally possible to enter Thailand on a one-way ticket with a Non-O visa, especially if you plan to volunteer. While there might be a requirement to show proof of onward travel, many travelers report being able to enter without presenting a return ticket. However, airlines may require proof of onward travel before boarding. If needed, buying a cheap onward ticket from Thailand to a neighboring country can be a solution. It is important to check specific visa and travel regulations depending on your point of entry.

You can be asked to so proof of onward travel on ANY visa to the country when you stamp in. However you are highly unlikely to be asked when flying in on a 90 day Non-O visa.

Now if you're thinking of winging your way here BEFORE you have the visa MANY airlines will not let you check in to come here without a visa in your passport or proof of onward travel

I regularly fly into Thailand without an onward ticket. I wouldn’t worry. If it’s a problem, but a ticket from Chiang Mai to Laos for cheap.

That you have managed to fly in without being asked for proof does NOT mean that everyone can.

I just checked the Thai Embassy website in Washington DC. they mention a ticket leaving Thailand. So you can buy a one way ticket and than a ticket to a neighbor country out of Thailand on about 90 days after arrival. Here is the link:

But where are you in USA? If in the Midwest, go to Chicago, and, as
@T**
will surely tell you, get the 60-day (extendable to 90) METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) and enjoy your time in country.

Dario Depiante I do share About Jesus there, but I also teach free English to kids that have been abandoned by their families, and I help with basic medical care for villages in the mountains. We have children from the villages that come to us at the age 15 who have tested out at kindergarten level. We try to help with their educational needs.

Special place in Hell for evangelicals peddling their crap here, in my opinion.
