Hey guys, I need some advice. It’s my first time in Bangkok and I was wondering how do I go about getting a 30 days extension? I got the 30 days on arrival from the airport. I’m a US passport holder and been here for 1 week so far. Another question, can I go apply anytime or only the last week before my 30 day expired? I have a condo for 3 months and they have proof of my stay. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a 30-day extension on your visa in Bangkok after entering on a visa exemption, visit the Chaengwattana Immigration Office. You'll need to bring a copy of your entry card and 1,900 THB. It's advisable to apply for the extension at any time before your initial 30 days expire, not just the week before. Be aware that the office can get crowded, and it’s best to go early in the day.

Michael you can actually go the same day you arrive on a visa exemption stamp that is if you land within the hours of the immigration office....if you get a 60 day SETV you have to wait 15 days or at the 45 day mark however you look at it before you can get the extension at immigration...it’s easy and costs ฿1,900 for the extension

You can go Monday and get it done, no reason waiting until the last day to get the extension...pro tip CW closes Noon-1300 every workday so if you get there after 8am the chances of you being there until 1400-1600 or longer is highly possible...

As long as you're there by 14:30 (I think that's the cutoff time, but it might be 15:30) they have to serve you that day.

At 16:30 the magic starts to happen... because it's close to quittin time they'll process at about 5x the rate of the earlier hours.

When you get in the taxi say "chaeng wattana soi jet" (soi 7).

Don't forget to bring a pen. They don't supply them. You also need a photo and copies of your passport pic, visa, entry stamps, and i think a copy of the departure card.

C/W opens at 0830 but people start Queuing up around 0500 or so looking for a low number to get in and out...so just be aware of that

It's been a VERY long time since I've been to C/W, but wouldn't it be best to go on a Tuesday?

1. Go to immigration in Bangkok. That place is called Chaengwattana. The Taxi drivers should know where to go.

2. The last I checked, you You'll need a copy of your exit card (the small slip, probably stamped in your passport), and 1,900 THB.

3. You do realize they will only add another 30 days to your visa exemption, and not 60 days, correct? I also wouldn't mention you have a condo either.

Thanks. When I was at the airport, I called the condo if they have 1 month stay. They said yes and when I arrived, they told me they only do 3 months lease. They told me I can stay 1 month, break my contract and get refund 1 month back. It was getting late and I was desperate for a place to stay so I sign the 3 month lease. It’s about $300 US a month.
