I entered Thailand as a US citizen in November. I got the 60 days Visa-Free. I'm expecting to go physically to an immigration office in January and apply for the 30-days extension. I know about all the requirements (photos, passport stamp, TM7, TM30, etc). Concerning the TM30, Do I still need a physical copy (paper) from my hotel ? Because, I saw the website about the TM30 online application ([members only]) . Do I need to do the TM30 online application also? Does my hotel has to use the website for my request (I'm confuse). Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for your visa extension in Thailand, it is advisable to have a physical copy of the TM30 form from your hotel. While the online system allows hotels to record your arrival and create a TM30 record, some immigration offices may require a physical copy of this document. It is best to ask your hotel for a printed version, as copies may only be available for a limited time after your arrival is recorded. Even though some offices can access your TM30 record online, having the paper version can avoid potential issues.
The online system is just the tool that hotels and now householders use to record your arrival, and it creates a tm30 record. The hotel you are currently staying should have recorded your arrival (and length of proposed stay). You should ask them for a copy. They may need to re-enter your arrival, as copies are only printable for 7 days, so don't worry if the arrival date on the form isn't your actual one.
The safest bet is to have the paper copy. Some offices will just look it up in the system and see you have one, but some will insist on a physical copy
