TLDR : Answer Summary
When attempting to extend a 60-day visa stamp in Thailand, it is almost certainly required to present a TM30 (Notification of Arrival) or proof that a TM30 has been filed, depending on the immigration office you visit.

Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

Almost certainly yes. It’s dependent on the immigration office you use but I’m not aware of any now that don’t require a TM30 filed or proof of one in print.
