My marriage visa is due for extension this month. I am being told I cannot use the same photo I used last year, I must get a new one taken. Is this true?
Answer summary
Yes, according to several comments, you must provide a new photo for your marriage visa extension application in Thailand. Immigration offices generally require photos to be recent, typically taken within the last six months, and many do not accept photos used in previous applications. It's advisable to check specific requirements for photos and paperwork with your local immigration office.

It is worth trying to find your offices requirements for photos and paperwork. Often you can download the forms online. When you go to the office present them with 2 folders(everything in duplicate)with everything filled out and each page signed. It does make the process quicker and happier.

I had an 80+ year old friend of mine in a wheelchair get called on the carpet for using the same passport photo as the previous year on the extension application.
I had to wheel him downstairs at Chaengwattana, get a new photo taken, peel off the old photo and stick the new one on the application to complete the process :O
they are merciless about using a passport photo taken within the last 6 months <- meaning you can't use the previous years photos
Yes, new photos inside/outside house are needed every year.. but the good news is that many immigration offices will accept the photos printed on standard photocopy paper.. meaning they don't have to be on photographic paper.. which saves you money and more importantly if you forget to get them printed off before you go.. you can nip to a nearby photocopy shop and get them done.. as we did one year at the copy kiosk behind the immigration building.. which avoided driving around looking for a proper photo printing shop!
I just picked mine up last week. Guy before me and myself both told we had used same passport photo as last year and to go get a new one. They were checking against last year’s extension application forms.
