Do I need to stand in line for a visa extension after returning to Thailand, or is my 60-day visa reset?

Before my 60day visa exemption expired I left the country for about 5 days. After returning to Thailand ,I see that expiration is tomorrow.

Do I now have to stand in line to get an extension, or can I just resume my casual vacation because the clock has been reset to the time I returned to Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asked about the status of their 60-day visa exemption after leaving Thailand for 5 days and returning just before the expiration. Comments from the community clarified that they should have received a new 60-day stamp upon returning, which resets the expiration date. The user was advised to check their passport carefully and consider visiting immigration if unsure.

when you left and came back in, you were given a stamp with that day. That day is day 1 of 60

You should have received a new 60 day stamp when you returned. Examine your passport more thoroughly.

I see an entry stamp from Malaysia, but nothing for return that I can see.

Your Thailand exit stamp is right there. But Thai immigration officers do not go in order for using your passport. You need to look at each page of your passport from the beginning.

I'm probably wrong but I thought the automatic gates are now functioning and no stamp is put in the passport.

it is

Very important to

Confirm that your

Passport actually gets stamped anytime when clearing immigration in any city iit often is forgotten by the tired, bored or distracted human behind the glass!

It’s your problem if you dont notice

The one time that you need to be paying attention

There are no automated entry gates and there won't be for a long time. Likely not this year.

The automated gates are exit only.
