Question about getting the first covid extension in Ko Phangan...Do I need to provide a letter from my embassy/ print out of an embassy statement?

Also my current Tourist visa extension finishes on 24th Feb. How early can I go to apply for the covid extension? Does the date of the covid extension begin from the expiry of the Tourist visa? or from date of application? Will I lose days if I went early?

Thank you so much again!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the procedures for obtaining a COVID extension in Ko Phangan, specifically whether a letter from their embassy is required, and the timing of when they can apply. They ask if the COVID extension starts from the expiry of their current Tourist visa or from the date of application and if applying early would result in lost days. Responses suggest that while an embassy letter may support the application, there is no guarantee of approval. It is recommended to apply closer to the visa's expiry date.

James that report was from March last year. May not be as straight forward this year.

There is no guarantee that your request for a COVID extension will be granted .

If your Embassy provides a letter requesting it for you...present it with your application.

If you are coming off a 30 days extension...if a COVID extension is granted it's from the date of your application.

Did you enter Thailand with a tourist visa or visa exempt?

When did you enter Thailand?

Are you married to a Thai or you are Father of a Thai child ?

Suggest you ask a week before your stamped in date expires...

And be prepared with Plan B if denied.

. I entered on 28th November with a 60 day Tourist visa. Last month I extended for another 30 days…so I have until 25th Feb to apply for the Covid extension.

I’m a British national…so I’m guessing I should screenshot the embassy notice that they do not provide letters.

I’m not married and no Thai children (that I know of 😂)

Thank you for your helpful advice as always 🙏🙂

a few days before your current stamp expires go ahead and apply for the COVID extension. As its your first...you may receive it. But no guarantee. 🙏🙏🙏
