I am on TR-15 visa and I can get a letter from my embassy. Am I qualified for the COVID extension? I am confused because the immigration announced that they wouldn’t extend for people who are on TR-15(visa on arrival) any more. Many thanks for answering~

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring about their eligibility for a COVID extension while holding a TR-15 visa (Visa on Arrival) and possessing a supportive letter from their embassy. Several commenters clarify that TR-15 visa holders are generally not eligible for the COVID extension. However, they mention that it might be possible to request a 30-day extension based on the embassy's letter, but this is not guaranteed. The commenters advise caution when approaching Thai immigration, as requesting an extension can lead to a denied request and a seven-day departure stamp.

okay this is how it is, you are correct you cannot get a a 60 day covid extension if you entered on a Visa On Arrival (TR-15)

BUT

IF you can get the letter from your embassy you can go apply for a 30 day extension based on embassy request. It's NOT a covid extension it's given for a different reason.

That's your only option other than taking that extension denied 7 day stamp to get out of thailand in a week.

Remember though, even with the embassy letter the immigration office does not have to give you that 30 day extension. There are reports of people with that letter who were denied.

All you can do is try.

Again...you can ask Thai immigration for a COVID extension...but be prepared to be denied.

Wait until a few days before your current permission to stay date expires...because if denied and the 7 day denied stamp in placed in your passport...you must leave within those 7 days.

I am sorry ...

... but you already have your answer.

You entered on VOA for 15 days

The Visa on Arrival entry is NOT eligible for a COVID extension under the Thai immigration rules.

If you ask for a COVID...they can deny it and grant you 7 days within to leave Thailand.

Be careful if you try to do a visa run to other Thai Embassy's other than in your home country

..as most have a one month stay to consider any visa application you may be making as you are not a resident of the country in which you are making application.
