Do DTV visa holders need proof of onward or return travel when entering Thailand?

As a DTV holder has anyone been asked for proof of a return flight to their home country or onward travel (once the 180 days is up) when they’ve arrived in Thailand. Is it OK to arrive on a one way ticket?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many DTV visa holders report that they have either not been asked for proof of onward or return travel upon arrival in Thailand, or that such inquiries are usually made by the airline before boarding. While some travelers suggest booking refundable tickets or cheap onward travel options as a precaution, there appears to be no strict requirement from Thai immigration for DTV holders to present a return flight. Experiences vary by individual and airline.

It’s not necessary, although the inbound airline might ask for it.

No. I've been in and out 3 or 4 times and have never been asked about an onward or return flight. If you ever are, it will mistake likely be an airline. In that case Ibwoukd show them and explain the DTV and how I am not certain of my timeline and where I am going at the moment. Hopefully the person asking will understand. If not, i will jump on my phone and buy a cheap bus ticket or refundable flight and then cancel the flight or chalk the cost of the bus ticket up to the cost of doing (DTV) business.
