I came to Thailand on a tourist visa without a return ticket, just an onward one. I had no problem doing that.

It's the airlines that sometimes requires it if you present your visa when checking in you should be ok not to have to one

No entry ever requires a "return" ticket. Just proof of onward travel leaving Thailand. But DTV does not require it
