TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa is classified as a tourist visa and is not considered a long-term visa. Generally, to apply for a Schengen visa, one must do so from their country of legal residence. Since the DTV visa does not confer residency status in Thailand, applying for a Schengen visa from Thailand might present challenges, especially depending on the applicant's nationality.

Depends on your passport.

As a general rule, you must apply for a Schengen visa at the consulate with territorial responsibility for the country where you are legally resident.

I do not think DTV will make you a Thai resident.

But why should you want to apply for a Schengen from within Thailand? Thailand is certainly not one of the countries from which you will get a Schengen visit visa very easy.

I checked with some embassies and they required a longterm visa as one of the requirement to apply Schengen visa.

Anonieme deelnemer I think it is quite obvious that a visa that only allows you to stay in a country for less than 1 year, like DTV is, cannot be considered as making you a resident of the country.

But apart from that it seems more logical to me if you want to visit one or more of Schengen countries as a tourist, you apply from your home country.

The approval rate for Schengen visa from within Thailand, certainly is not the highest, because the risk Thai citizens will not leave Schengen after the maximum stay of 90 days is considered quite high.
