I recently contacted the embassy in my country for specific advice on what was needed from the doctor. They said 'For the medical purpose, you must have an appointment confirmation letter from the hospital and information about the appointment and the procedure you will go through."

Yes, you can if you have a treatment plan for the following treatments over the next months. And possibly the business card of the doctor doing your treatment will be asked from the embassy. My friend did it before.
