TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among members is that if you and your partner are not legally married, you cannot share a room in a quarantine hotel in Thailand. While married couples are allowed to quarantine together, unmarried couples must stay in separate rooms. The rules are strictly enforced, and the rationale is primarily based on health and safety concerns related to COVID-19.

not about $$$ - 2 people traveled to home airport - through said terminal - moved about on aircraft separately - likely traveled through at least on stopover airport terminal - traveled through BLK IAPT terminal and either one could have contracted virus -- double booking in quarantine defeats purpose...

If you're married you can stay in the same room, since one of my friends did that with her husband. But i think you then have to pay for a family room (but I'm not sure about that)

A quarantine hotel is *NOT* a hotel. It's a hospital annex that's in a hotel. Do not view it as a hotel but instead a hospital room. Since you and your partner is not legally married, you can not share a room.

Paul Durkan Yes, I know they are hotels. As I said:

> It's a hospital annex that's in a hotel. Do not view it as a hotel but instead a hospital room

"A hospital annex". All quarantine hotels have nurses and doctors on call.

"that's in a hotel". All quarantine hotels were in former hotels that people could book. These hotels are now closed to the general public. If I am in Thailand now, I can not stay at those hotels.

"Do not view it as a hotel but instead a hospital room". The Thai government, and the hospitals that manage those hotels, are using that space to hold people who may have COVID-19. They meet medical standards, and there is a nurse who checks your temperature every day.

again, there is no cost savings by sharing a room with your wife, or other family member. The cost is per person, not per room. Meals are provided three times a day per person. Medical testing is provided per person. Sanitary amenities are provided per person. It is not at all like checking into a hotel during regular times in the past. It does not matter whether a couple stays in separate rooms, or the same room, the cost is still per person.

that is exactly why they do not let unmarried couples share a room. Married couples live in the same house under the same roof, and share the same bed, thus have been exposed, or not, to the same virus infection potential, so they can share a room. There is no guarantee unmarried couples shared the same environments, thusly one might be infected, and the other might not, but, whether they could share a room, or not, the cost is the same. Two rooms does NOT double the cost.

pp, NOW, another person comment above quotes LANDMARK H as 55,000 for one ( which I know to be correct as friend inquired & the chose the Marriot, nearby, same price, but he got a 3K Baht discount as a Marriot Club member) - anyway, second person is 40K more. But, as I've justified prior, double bunking makes no sense for a true quarantine.

Alex Goldie. The ASQ makes more money by having two people in one room than in separate rooms. The additional room they can let out to another customer (and there's no shortage). The rules are designed to stop people suddenly deciding they are "partners". There is no criteria to determine who are "partners" and who aren't.

Yes if a Thai chooses to do ASQ rather than SQ they have to pay.

and if they could have unmarried couples in same room then that 1 room would cost more than a single occupant pays and then they'd have incomings from the 2nd room.

In short, ASQ would get more money from unmarried couples being allowed go share a room.
