TLDR : Answer Summary
A re-entry visa commonly refers to a re-entry permit in Thailand, which allows expatriates to maintain their current permission to stay when leaving the country. It is essential to obtain this permit before departing, as failing to do so would void the existing stay stamp. The re-entry permit can be acquired at an Immigration Office or during departure at an international airport. The fees are 1100 THB for a single-entry and 3800 THB for multi-entry. It does not extend the length of the stay; upon return, the entry date remains the same as when you left.

There's no such thing as a re-entry visa. There is a re-entry permit, and what that does is keep your existing permission to stay stamp alive when you leave the country. If you do not get a re-entry permit then that stamp would be void as soon as you go through passport control. You need to be aware that a re-entry permit does not add any additional time to your permission to stay, and when you return to Thailand you will be stamped in with the exact same date as the stamp read when you left.

A re-entry permit can be ontained from an Immigration Office or during departure at an international airport. It costs 1100B (single) or 3800B (multi-entry). It keeps your current status i.e. entry stamp valid while you are out of the country and you get stamped back in with the same date.
