Obtaining a re-entry stamp at the airport on an ED visa is possible and typically takes around 20 minutes, depending on how busy the airport is. However, many users recommend getting the re-entry permit in advance at an immigration office to avoid potential hassles at the airport. There are concerns about the risks of delays, especially if you're short on time before a flight.

You SHOULD be able to get it at the airport no problem, but do you need the aggravation of the chance that something goes wrong? Get it at immigration in advacne and next year stump up the 3,800 for a multiple entry visa and then you dont need a re-entry permit.

I only know from my own personal experience mate. May be different for others

We have a lot of students on Ed visas. I assumed they were on much the same deal as Non-imm, but I bow to your superior knowledge,
They used to be 12 month but I think they changed it so people do actually go to school now lol

Good point, sorry! The guys I am work with have non-imm B's

Would that actually work though? An ED visa is extended every 90 days, they aren't a 12 month visa. His multiple entry may expire after the first 90 days and have to be renewed each time.

You can get it beforehand at an immigration office normally. One less hassle at the airport then. Pretty straightforward process. I did it in December.

I'd get it ahead of time if you're cutting things short. I almost missed a flight to Paris getting one on the way once. Fortunately, the IO's 10-year-old daughter was there to help him with the crowd :-D

If the airport has the possibility to apply for the re-entry permit it will take about 20 minutes depending on how busy it is.
