TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost for a reentry permit for an Ed visa in Thailand is 1,000 baht for a single entry or 3,800 baht for multiple entries. It's advised to clarify where the permit can be obtained, as it can be done at the immigration office or possibly at the airport. Additionally, travelers must ensure they have the Thai Pass and insurance for their return to Thailand.

just a week vacation. I'm headed back to US in September to see family and friends for a month, but I think I got the visa thing figured out when I turn 50 in August.

if I recall itโ€™s just after security before the immigration desks. Look for big sign saying re-entry permits
