You can’t convert it. Normally you need to close DTV, then open new visa.

Probably immigration staff will send you to close visa to same place where it was opened in begin

I am pretty sure conversion of DTV to Non-Immigrant work visa can be done at local immigration in Thailand if requested documents from employer are provided. As for suggesting people to cancel their own DTV on their own behalf - a hard but nonsense rumor. Don’t cancel anything unless explicitly instructed by Thai immigration or embassy. But I doubt it is even possible of you wanted to.

Go to local immigration. Fulfill the requirements and present the required documents. Done. Chicken and Egg: If you don’t have a bank account yet, everything other than work visa (no savings in Thai bank account required) will be problematic to demonstrate savings requirements. That is why the current DTV banking situation is such a big Thai fu** up.
