Can I use a tourist visa for a visit to Thailand then apply for a Non-O visa later?

Good afternoon

If anybody can assist me, I would like to ask a question

Can I visit Thailand on 6/10/26 until 3/11/26 and use my tourist 30 day Visa

Then return home apply for a non- O Visa 90 days and return to Thailand 6/1/27 for my 90 days

It’s certainly not my 1st visit.

I want to go for a month soon then longer in Jan. I usually get the extension for the 90 days but as we know it’s all changed now.

There is no 30 day tourist visa, you're talking about coming in Oct 6 until Nov 3 on a 30 day "free stamp" (visa exempt) entry

AND

Whether you can or can't do that totally is dependent on what your previous entry/stay history is to thailand this year.. If you've had several visa exempt entries (especially if you maxed those entries out) you could be questioned comin' back in on a new visa exempt entry

All you can do is have proof you will be leaving within the 30 days you will stamp in for and hope for the best.. No one can tell you for sure if you'll skate thru or get questioned.

The young immigration officer asked for assistance from a supervisor and after 25 minutes pleading with him he reluctantly said okay and gave a stamp but wrote something in Thai in my passport

you can fly in until they stop you.. There is no official limit on the number of free stamp (visa exempt) entries you can get by air

BUT

That doesn't mean they're unlimited.

If the officer thinks you're abusing the visa exempt entry program they can pull you aside, question you for proof of funds, proof of onward travel, proof of lodging or deny you entry..
