Can I use a joint bank account and sponsor letter for my DTV visa application if we don't meet the 1,000,000 THB requirement separately?

Hello,

My husband has already been approved for the DTV visa (from Portugal), and I am now submitting my application as spouse. We only have one bank account, which does not hold 500,000 THB + 500,000 THB separately for each of us.

Do you think I should submit the same bank statements that he used for his visa application (from our only shared account), and include a sponsor letter explaining that we have a joint account, the funds belong to both of us, are accessible to both of us, and that my husband will be financially supporting me during our stay?

Or would it be better to wait until we have 1.000,000 THB ?

We also have funds in a investment broker, but I understand that doesn’t really count for this type of visa — is that correct?

thanks in advance for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to submit their husband's bank statements for their DTV visa application since they share a joint account with insufficient funds for each individual requirement. They inquire about the appropriateness of including a sponsor letter and express concern regarding the acceptability of alternative investment funds.

I'm surprised your husband was approved without having double the required money in a joint account. Nevertheless he should be able to right a sponsor letter for you as his wife

For my husband's application, we had the 500k. We have about 760k in that account. My concern is use the same 750k for my application too

Anonymous participant I understand you had the 500k but normally if it is a joint account you are expected to show double the money as half of the funds in the account is recognised as belonging to each account holder, one account holder doesn't own all of the funds. I was surprised they allowed it. As to your application you just need to supply your details, your husbands DTV details, your marriage certificate and a sponsorship letter saying your husband is responsible for you financially. Assuming your applying at the same consulate you can just supply the same information as previously, it would be odd for them not to accept it.

But the bank statements I showed for my husband's application only had his name. Thats why he was approved

Anonymous participant ah OK, just use that account for you as well along with the sponsorship letter
