TLDR : Answer Summary
While some individuals have claimed that receiving a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand is possible through military retirement pensions, the consensus among commenters is that the primary requirement for the visa is having THB 500,000 (or its equivalent) in a bank account. The military pension itself does not directly qualify an applicant. Options like the Soft Power route or applying for the LTR visa may be more relevant for pensioners.

Military pension has nothing to do with it, you need the 500k baht. Retired military and I went the most Thai route

Anonymous participant you pay the application fee and yes I paid for 6 months of classes. Your military pension has nothing to do with it and means nothing.

If money isn’t a problem look at the LTR visa ,wealthy pensioner some categories are tax exempt

Based on experience, with a few people have documents ready for if you have regular “salary payments” incoming because they might want further explanation about why these transfers are happening on a regular basis.

The main requirement is to have THB 500,000 (or the equivalent) in a bank account. Your military pension isn’t the reason you’ll qualify. However, you can consider applying through the Soft Power route. Make sure to gather information from a reliable source, not a TikTok dream seller.

Anonymous participant 332 I meet the ฿500,000 requirement but I’m under the age of retirement. Does that matter? Soft power route 5 years?

Anonymous participant I’m 32, that’s probably pushing it. My finances are great and I have medical insurance. With the soft DTV it looks like I’d have to commit to must Thai training or school. Those options does not work for me unless there something I don’t know. Are ppl getting the approvals just for the purpose of the visa with zero commitment?

Anonymous participant I got it when i was 43 years old (last yr 555). As long as you have the money, you’re fine. But di yourself a favor and have your realistic budget ready. Depending on your circumstances, military retirement may not be enough as a private health insurance is highly recommended and not cheap 🙏

Anonymous participant If so, you can't apply for a retirement visa but could for a DTV soft power.

Because it's an income 🤷‍♂️😂

They also probably used soft power options not remote work option

It's truly simple even a child could apply if they tried
