I know the retirement VISA says you have to be 50. Is there an age exception for retired US military members? I looked around but wasn’t able to find anything.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The retirement visa in Thailand requires applicants to be at least 50 years old, and there are no known exceptions for retired US military members. Some comments mention alternatives like the DTV visa, which has fewer requirements but still caters to individuals looking for long-term stays. Additionally, while some other countries may offer concessions to military veterans, Thailand does not have such policies in place.
I'm curious to understand why you would think there would be an exception for another countries ex military especially when the country in question generally denies visa applications for Thai citizens.....
Although it’s ludicrous that America allows any felon and gang member from any country to cross our southern border and invites them to stay with benefits. And a citizen of Thailand cannot obtain a simple tourist visa. Because they are afraid they will not leave…

No. Your military standing is of no relevance anywhere else in the world.
You’re not special outside of your militarized country.

Welcome. Setup company and apply business visa. You can use that as 'vehicle' to invest here and live here and go even citizenship if you want..

Anybody know anything about if you move to Thailand and you wanna bring your motorcycle what' you haft to do to bringing it in(gov, taxed etc)
what freedoms are you talking about our? Come on, name a few that anyone is trying to take. And please, leave that bs in your home country. We’re trying to get away from it; but you guys never shut up.
Suggest getting the DTV visa. I got it a few weeks ago and it will carry me till 50yrs. Or I renew DTV for another 5 years as (at the moment) it has less requirements.

As an American military veteran myself, this has to be one of the dumbest post I’ve seen. We barely take care of vets in this country, and to ask if another country makes exception? lol
Is this a joke post? Why would Thailand care if you were retired US military? Should there also be an exception for retired US teachers? Maybe retired US garbage collectors too?

Look up DTV visa.

No, but you can get DTV if you meet criteria. It's long term usable with trips out every so often.

You're thinking about the Philippines, where they cut the financial requirements for their retirement visa for US veterans. No such thing in Thailand or any other country that I'm aware of.

All joking aside, I retired in 2013, started coming to Thailand from November till March in 2020, because the Montana winters were killing me. Or I was going to do it myself.
Full retirement plus 100% VA disability/unemployable due to PTSD.
Just flew here on a one-way ticket in August. I turn 50 Oct 10th. Never going back. Please ask any questions you have. I’ve been living what you’re thinking about doing.
I replied. Sadly I think Zach got turned off by my sarcasm. Was just trying to have some fun. I really do love to help. Officers have a hard time when they transition to civilian life 😂😂😂

Agree why would there be an exception for a retired US Military member!
and the Philippines are about to be the next Ukraine ... Bad enough the country has been occupied by a foreign force for 70+ years ... just like the Hawaiians ... and believe me, there are plenty of Natives that would be more than happy if the Yanks went home.
But you go on spouting your amerikan exceptionalism BS.
nana gives me 50% discount. They charge you more due to your looks and personality

👍Nice. I did 22 years in the RNZAF, we had A4Ks back then until the strike wing was disbanded by the government of the day. Moving to LOS next year, can't wait🙂
Active duty special operations, so I have thick skin. I just think it’s pretty damn lame and unnecessary to have a poor personality like what you’re showing.

It amazing how many seal 6 and seals vacation or retire to Thailand....keeping the world safe.
Oh boy we got another Seal 6 or a lost whale....who did special ops in the middle of his pool or maybe in his bathtub when he was just 5....and still remembers till today at 50yr plus.
retired First Sgt. 5 slogs in the desert and a year on the RoK. If you didn’t think the Hooters comment was funny, I don’t know how you made it 20 years…..

The LTR visa has no age restriction. But you need to meet the annual income requirements.
depends which category you plan applying under. Wealthy Pensioner is for those 50 and up. Wealthy Global Citizen needs the same income and minimum assets of 1m USD of which at least 500k must be invested in Thailand

Why would there be an exception? It's not even actually a retirement visa. It's very specifically a visa for being 50 or over and "spending the remainder of your days in Thailand." People just call it a retirement visa. You do not qualify unless you are 50 years old.
