Am I correct in reading on the Australian embassy website in Canberra that they will process a METV for non-australian's? It states you need a medical certificate. What kind would this be? The money is not a problem. Just trying to avoid going back to the US at all costs.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the query of whether non-Australian citizens can apply for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) through the Australian embassy in Canberra and the specific requirements, such as needing a medical certificate. Various comments clarify that US passport holders can apply for the METV in Australia and mention the necessity of proof of visa status. There are also discussions about postal services for application submissions and general travel logistics.
The Melbourne Consulate says: " proof of Australian Electronic Visa (VEVO) or Visa Grant Letter is
required."
That's just the Aussie visa?

Thanks Tod. I just paid for a ETA, I think that will work. I can print out something I suppose.

Am I reading this correctly.. I just want to double check before I board a plane. I can get METV from Australia (Perth, Melbourne, Canberra) as a US Passport holder?
google.com/flights <-- your new best friend. Helps you find cheapest. Right now am looking tickets $450 direct fight. If I want to save $80 I can hang around some-dumb-airport for 10 hours.
