Hi all.

Looking at getting an METV from Australia. We leave to Thailand in six days. So next Saturday. The consulate says processing is a MINIMUM of 2 working days. Wondering if anyone has any experience in whether the METV visa is a quick turnaround in Australia? Also do they send your passport off to Thailand or just take a photograph of it?

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
User is inquiring about the processing time for a METV visa from Australia, as they are set to travel to Thailand in six days. They seek advice on the typical turnaround time for the METV application at the consulate and whether the passport is sent to Thailand or if a photograph is taken instead.

That's the instructions from the thai consulate in Melbourne.

I'd get the documentation together and head on over there

You apply for the METV at a consulate in Australia and they put the sticker in your passport BEFORE you come here

Jason, if this helps...I'm British..I was on holiday at my daughter's (Sunshine Coast) turned up at Brisbane Consulate for a SETV. Got there at 10 ish, young lady checked all paperwork and said come back after 13.00, it'll be ready. That caused some rapid changes of plan....I was supposed to be babysitting the grandkids that afternoon. Shortly after 13.00 I turned up, third in informal queue and same young lady came out of her office with the passports, into the small foyer and dished them out to us. It's on this Group, probably many times, but do check what the Immigration Officer has done BEFORE you leave his desk....he hadn't seen my Visa and just stamped me in for 30 days.

@Ja***
you show up, turn in your documents, passport, pay the money, and you come back the next day to pick up your passport. That's the fastest they do it IF you have all the documentation required.

Yeh I know. Just wondering whether it normally takes 5-6 days and whether they need to hold onto passport during processing time. They say on website that it’s a minimum of two days processing time.
