TV from NZ?

I was wondering, whether applying for a SETV or METV in NZ is worthwhile as a tourist and non-resident. (So far I have 4 SETVs from SE Asia in my EU passport, which was issued in HK.) - If yes, which place is the one to choose: Wellington or Auckland?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether it is advisable for a non-resident tourist to apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) or a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in New Zealand. One commenter suggests that the SETV would likely be acceptable, but warns that a non-resident may not qualify for the METV due to the requirement of proof of residence in New Zealand for the METV application.

(For METV) "If you are NOT a New Zealand citizen, proof of residence document for New Zealand (i.e. Permanent Resident Visa, Work Visa, Student Visa)"

No, I wish I were, but I'm not a citizen. But getting a SETV while on holiday there would be nice, though. By the way, what cash gets the better exchange rate in NZ: US dollars or Euros? (Also will they accept 500 Euro banknotes? They seem to be more and more frowned upon, e.g. in the UK.)

The SETV should be OK, you might not get the METV as a non resident
