Hey all, I've been reading and learning for a while and would like to thank you for sharing your experiences. It really is very helpful!

So, first question... my wife and I (both uk passports) are planning to shift from India to Thailand on 50+ retirement basis. I read somewhere that it's possible for my wife to piggyback on my OA or O retirement visa as a 'dependent'. Is this correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the possibility of their wife joining them as a dependent on their OA retirement visa. The responses confirmed that it is possible for a dependent visa based on a retirement visa, with the added detail that health insurance is required for an OA visa but not for a Non O visa.

However..NO health insurance is required for the Non O visa and extensions of stay obtained inside Thailand.

But if you have an OA its only obtained from your home country. And both of you would be required to have the health insurance if you seek an OA.

I've been trying to weigh up OA vs O for a while. OA seems to suit us better as I have continuing ties to India and UK so the multiple entry seems attractive. Is it right that it's possible to buy entry/exit permits in advance if one is staying on an O visa?

Yes, one of you can have the visa based on being over 50 years of age and the wedded partner can get the visa based on being dependent.

Would I be right to assume that the wedded dependent wouldn't need the 800k thb in the bank?
