If I may ask my first question. It is this:

If I was to obtain the Thai, retirement visa. Could I bring my Chinese wife on my account or would she have to fulfill the same criteria ie the bank deposit and amount of annual income etc ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To bring your Chinese wife to Thailand on a retirement visa, she cannot just be added to your visa; she needs to apply for her own Non-O visa as your dependent. This requires her to fulfill certain criteria, including your financial requirements as the primary visa holder. The financial burden rests on you as the sponsor. Once she enters Thailand with her Non-O visa, she can apply for an extension based on your retirement visa, allowing both of you to renew at the same time.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

She would have to obtain a non O visa based on being your dependent from overseas. Once she has that and enters Thailand she can apply for an extension based off of your visa and the dates will sync with yours. When you apply for the next extension you can both do so at the same time.

this is an outdated article and applied only to O-A visa.

A Non-O does not require it.

Also a trailing spouse cannot aquire the Non-O in country.

better not apply retirement visa until you are in thailand, otherwise you are going to pay costly comppulsory health insurance each year to renew your visa: see news below

Trailing spouse is correct, I have one.

You will need to have your marriage certificate legalised for use in Thailand & translated. We applied for it in Thailand, not sure if that makes any difference

The fundamental qualifications remains the same.

The local required documents, rules and proofs vary.

Depending where you are going to live, local requirements may differ slightly from different areas.

Phuket and Bangkok rules may not be exactly the same.

Rather than high jack the post anymore. Lol

You may dm me and I can help fill in the blanks.

God Dieux not quite sure what you mean, but you can only get a year extension at a time for the principal holder and the follower matches their dates.

God Dieux as long as you meet the criteria in the area you live, each year, it can be continued indefinitely.

Children and even a dependant parent can also qualify.

You must renew the extension of stay yearly.

Follow the link Chris provided. That gives you details of what would be required for the Phuket office. Other offices may have different requirements.

Others may conclude that you’d each need your own retirement visa based on either incorrect information from an immigration office or the fact you can’t do it “in country”. The dependant must have a non O visa issued from abroad to start with.

, i have read on here many saying that. So i just tried to pass to you. I didn"t that a dependant could have it. And , this is a question, why a foreigner can have a dependant wife which is a foreigner too on his visa and bank account, but a thai wife can't give visa to her husband who shoukd have at least 400.000 in bank, Isn't strange?

For a dependent visa it is irrelevant whether the main visa holder is male or female. The dependant must be legally married to the main holder (Thailand doesn’t recognise same sex or common law marriages as yet), or be a child under the age of 20 of the main visa holder.

Thailand is still a paternal society, the burden of finance falls on the husband.

A foreign wife with thai husband requires no financial proof.

It is what it is

If you are legally married she can obtain Non-0 based on being a dependant.

She would piggy back on your visa and extension based on retirement as a trailing spouse.

The financial burden is on the husband only,
