Hi everybody

I'm confused since i read contradictory informations

I have to exit thailand because Hua Hin immigration didn't want to renew my covid extension.(don't know why but that's not the point !)

Can I come back on a 30 days visa exemption and apply for a retirement visa in Thailand ?

Or do i need to apply in my country (France) for the non immigrant O visa ? I read that it could take a long time to be granted

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on whether they can return to Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption and apply for a retirement visa (NON-O) at local immigration or if they must apply from France. Comments suggest that entry on a visa exemption is possible for French nationals, and they can apply for a 90-day NON-O visa upon arrival, provided they meet the necessary requirements.

As a French national you could indeed enter thailand by a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.

You should be able to meet the requirements and apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement at your immigration office. I'd say as soon as you get back into the country GO to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the requirements you need to meet to first apply for the 90 day Non-O visa and then after that the year extension
