To apply for marriage visa you need to show 400k deposit into your bank atleast 2 months prior to applying. After succesfully obtaining this visa, can I take the 400k out? I don’t rly like to let my money rot away due to inflation.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a marriage visa in Thailand, you need to have a minimum of 400,000 baht in your bank account for at least two months before applying. Once you successfully get the visa and receive the final stamp, you can withdraw the money. However, it's essential to maintain a balance of at least 400,000 baht in your account two months prior to your next visa application to ensure eligibility. Alternatively, you can demonstrate a steady monthly income, which negates the need for the 400,000 baht deposit.

You can open a money market account in a Thai bank instead of a regular account and get about 1-2% interest annually.

At least it’s something.

If you have a monthly income and proof of it you don't need to have 400,000b

no. It has to be placed in a bank. If you’re making enough interest to meet your Thai obligations, the chances are you can move it through one account and back to the master, offshore account.

Interest off of 400,000 baht would not be nearly enough for monthly income....

it’s not about showing you have a job or income coming in. It’s all about the money amount you’re sending into Thailand, each month. For marriage visa, you need to show Thai bank statements showing 40k a month coming in.

You'd have to transfer the money into Thailand every month and it must be

Baht minimum. I think you'll need 12 months of transfers first, before immigration will even look at your application so planning ahead is essential. Whereas with the 400K option, although it's annoying in terms of the 2 month seasoning requirement, you obviously don't need to plan ahead that far.

For a married to Thai extension, you must have 400,000 baht in your account 2 months before the day you apply. You will then get an "under consideration" stamp and a time to return to collect your actual extension stamp. DO NOT touch the money until you get the final stamp. After that you can do whatever you want with the money as long as you have your account back above 400,000 a full 2 months before you apply (not before your extension ends) next year.

usually around 30 days. They need time to process your application and may also call you to setup a home visit by immigration officers.

. Changwattana is 21 days under consideration now. I thought they made a mistake on the stamp and they said it's been reduced. Collected yearly extension 3 weeks later.
