TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a one-year extension of stay under the 'Married to a Thai' visa, it is generally recommended to have 400,000 baht in the bank for at least 2 full months prior to your application. However, some comments indicate that certain immigration offices may request 3 months of bank statements. It is advisable to check with your local immigration office for their specific requirements.

Samut Prakhan ask for 2 months before you apply and then the 1 month under consideration period.3 months in total
Gary **********
My io asks for 3 months statements when I apply.

Probably because if you ask for two months you would get the current month (probably not a complete month) and the previous month ;)
Richard *********
Leave it in a 2nd bank account permantently. Easy.
Tony *********
Just put it 3 and you definitely be safe
James ********
It's 2 FULL MONTHS before you apply for the one year extension of stay as Married to a Thai.

actually 2 calendar months before you apply, not when the current extension expires

that's 60 days right? I can go on day 61? With my extension due between songkran holidays and weekend I have to be very precise

@Daniele **********
why would you wait until your extension is almost out to apply for another year πŸ˜• especially with Songkran taking a lot of days this month

At most offices you can apply when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp if it's running out mid april you could have applied the middle of last month

also, this is my first extension, I had multi entry visa and was very happy with it, was considering to continue with 60 days visa exempt entries

don't try to live here on those 60 day visa excempt entries. You will get stopped and denied entry sooner or later. Likely sooner as it is. You are cutting it short with the time for you applying vs expiration of your current stamp. Let that be a lesson for next time. It's wise to apply as early as possible. You would not lose any days, and it gives you time to correct anything that might be a problem with your application. Believe me, using the same office for 8 years straight now, for marriage extension, the exact paperwork they want each year can be slightly different. Let yourself have a buffer for that by going early and not having to stress about it.

For now though, worst case? Lets say there's something not okay with your documents, and they ask for additional/changed/updated something, and your time is up.

Then there is the 60 day visit family extension, that you can use only one time per entry. It has more or less the same requirements as the one year extension, just minus the money.

yeah hate having to deal with all this

I had the money invested (in thai bank with book and everything) and thought that was good for them, didn't want to disinvest

@Daniele **********
no it's not 60 days, it's calendar months, date to date. So if you had the funds arrived on the 17th of February you could go on the 18th of April

@James *******
that's funny, they expect everyone's spouse will have a blue book
Mikkel *******
@Matthew ********
no.. They expect any Thai spouse to be *in* a blue book (tabien baan/house registration). Only the "house master" or actual owner will have the physical blue book. It lists who resides on that specific address.
