TLDR : Answer Summary
The TR visa allows for an initial stay of 60 days in Thailand, with a possibility of a 30-day extension. To transition from a TR to an ED visa, you can look for schools after arriving. However, some confusion exists regarding the conversion process. If your previous visa was an STV with multiple COVID extensions, you can return to Thailand on a TR visa after staying in your country for two weeks. For the TR visa, you'll need to prepare cash (20,000 baht or equivalent), proof of accommodation, and a flight out of Thailand within the 60 days. Insurance is not required for the TR visa but is necessary for obtaining a ThailandPass, with a minimum coverage of $10,000 starting from May 1st.

A TR visa would give you 60 days on arrival and can be extended for another 30.

If questioned they ask for proof of finance. Must be cash. 20,000 baht or equivalent in a major currency.

A flight out of Thailand within the 60 days. Can be a cheap one to anywhere.

Proof of accommodation for the first few days.

Insurance not needed for a tourist visa but is required to get your ThailandPass. From May 1st requirement is $10,000 coverage. Cover for the period of you visa.
