Can I use my father's bank statement for the Destination Thailand Visa application with a sponsorship letter?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) at the Thai Embassy in Jakarta.

Does anyone know if they accept sponsorship for the financial requirement?

Specifically, can I use my father’s bank statement together with a sponsorship letter and proof of relationship, instead of my own bank statement?

If you’ve done this or know someone who has, please share your experience.

Thanks in advance!

Okay so I got approved with a sponsorship letter signed by dad saying he takes financial responsibility for me if need be and that I have access to a "family trust".

My family transferred the AUD equivalent of the 500,000฿. I only had it in for a day. I also uploaded my birth certificate with my parents name on it to prove proof of relationship.

May have been overkill, but I got accepted for workcation.

You have a much slimmer chance to get approved with a sponsorship. And thereby loosing 10.000+ Baht visa fee.

Don’t your father trust you enough to transfer the 500.000+ Baht to your account, then better chances to be approved

You need to check with the Embassy regarding sponsor. Most sponsorships tend to be for dependents only. There was a post in this group about a parent sponsoring a child. I do not think all embassies accept this though

For soft power or workcation? I think that using an sponsorship for a workcation would be odd, as you're supposed to be a remote worker. For soft power it might be understandable. Of course what I think doesn't matter, but what I'm saying is that the Embassy can see it this way.

Sponsorship for workcation does not sound odd in case the employer is the sponsor. Why should an employee need to have financial reserves in case of trouble? The remote work only needs to generate income to live from, the 500K is just in case of problems. When an employer sees it as a good thing his employees work for some time at a different location, he can sonsor this.

But just like you said, it does not matter what we think, it is about what the embassy thinks.

Sponsorship is usually for dependents, kids/wife/husband. You would need to contact Jakarta embassy if they allow adult sponsorship. Probably easier if your father 'loans' you the 500k and apply yourself.
