I have a question about TM30. If I leave Thailand and return using a re-entry permit, and I go back to the same address, do I need to submit a new TM30, or is the old one still valid?
Thank you.
Answer summary
When returning to Thailand using a re-entry permit, it's generally advised to submit a new TM30 form, even if you're returning to the same address. Legal opinions vary, and some immigration offices may require it while others might not enforce this rule strictly. If you're uncertain, it's safer to file a new TM30 to avoid potential problems during future renewals or interactions with immigration officials. The TM30 can often be submitted online for convenience.

just file it. file everything whether it's needed or not. you can't trust any advice in thailand, really, which means. you need to know all the laws, and nobody knows all the laws. So just keep filing things all the time.
When you been here a while you start to understand that that is no general rules that every parts of Thailand works after. Some people say Yes to your question some say NO.
Best way is always to go to immigration office to get the correct answer for just their aria
From what I discussed with the immigration officer, they said that every time If you leave Thailand and re-enter the country, a TM30 report must be submitted again. One of my foreign friends has been fined for this before
OxyJane Ch great post and it’s correct, others assume going on holiday in Thailand for a few weeks is okay but again TM30 has to be done upon your return,
I have a feeling you should or if you don't one time it will go wrong for you.it is less than 2 mins with submitting a spreadsheet and changing new dates .
Once you leave Thailand, your earlier filed TM30 expires...when you return back even after a short period, you need to file again TM30 and your 90 days start again from recent arrival date ...
Supposed to, even for domestic travel. As you’re hearing in these comments, some officers or offices might not care until you’re up for a renewal of your stay permit. I understand what they are saying, but that’s going to depend on the immigration officer and when they find out you didn’t re-register. It doesn’t take much time, so why not do it?
Bob D'Andrea Bob you have been advise stop advising others on incorrect information by a visa office,
You are misleading others to do the wrong thing.
You honestly have no idea.
It’s irrelevant what you have done let’s hope by the middle of 2026 the immigration will implement planned changes, because you know it all you will know those changes.
Just like the 2926 driving licence changes but again you know it all.
Your statements are just misleading and honestly you should be reported.
Wayne Lucas it’s not misleading it’s the way it is in Jomtien update as often as you want but that’s not what the OP is asking while your at it file a Thai tax return also
Legally, TM 30 required when entering Thailand from abroad, moving to a new address and returning to a the same place after staying somewhere else in Thailand. A return to same address after overseas trip require a fresh TM30 as immigration consider it a new arrival. Like some said, some offices may overlook it during renewal, some may not and fine. So safer to submit it takes a few mins
Sam Sam sorry, legally its not required if returning to the registered address within the valid check-in dates. However it is highly recomended if you need to interact with an IO to reregister and reprint it.
Sam Sam You are mostly correct. The fact he is using a re-entry permit means he is returning using his original permission to stay, so it is not a new arrival. My friend visited me last year arriving visa-exempt. I had to do a TM30 for him when he arrived. I purchased a re-entry permit and we travelled to Vietnam. On the return he arrived visa-exempt again and I used my re-entry permit. I went to immigration and the head guy said I have to do a new TM30 for my friend as he has arrived using a new permission to stay but I do not need a new one. The only problem is that many IOs don't understand this rule so will give incorrect advice, and you certainly do not want to tell them they are wrong :D
If you live in Thailand and leave Thailand for a holiday or even travel within Thailand for a period of time you have to do a TM30 upon your return even if you have live in the address for a longtime.
Your opinion is completely wrong a re-entry permit has no relevance with a TM30.
Your assumption may be okay for awhile if that’s what you believe. But then when you go for a renewal you are rejected because the TM30 wasn’t done, if you rent it may say landlord responsibility but it’s the renters responsibility to ensure it’s been done.
It’s your problem if you follow what you feel and are okay with but I am not going to bore you with the very situation as you put it impacted a friend when I told him you go on holiday in Thailand or to another country he has to do a TM30.
His response it’s the landlord responsibility I told him how does a landlord know you are on holiday?
Finally he got the message, I told him ask the immigration officer at immigration at the information counter at Chon Buri in the brown uniform she stated if you don’t it likely it eventually catch up with you.
Ian Morrison what you mentioned is the overlook part at the end. The law requires submissions as mentioned, regardless of the inconsistent implementation or verbal waivers. What john mentioned as his new experience is the legal requirement
it all depends on your local immigration office. Mine expects a new TM30 if I spend one night in a hotel inside Thailand. Over the years this office has changed the rules a number of times as staff have changed, initially I didn't have to file a new TM30 even when returning from abroad, then I had to file a new one only when returning from abroad, and now 1 night in a hotel requires a new one.
Sam Sam Yes if i submit but every time have to write to agency and they to landlord and waiting from them to send me back. If i can do by my self never will ask.
