Tod Daniels, is proof of funds or onwards travel required if one is re-entering with an existing Non-O (retirement) yearly extension stamp (with a re-entry permit)? I don't think so as I have done that before without either item, but am looking for official rules to ensure I don't run into an issue.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When re-entering Thailand with an existing Non-O retirement visa and a valid re-entry permit, there is no requirement for proof of funds or onward travel tickets, based on experiences shared by multiple expats. Many have reported never being asked for such documents over long periods of residence in Thailand.

Since 15 years living here on extension of stay (purpose: retirement) and every year leaving THA for holiday up to three months (Schengen visa for my long time Thai partner). Coming back with re entry permit ... never ever been asked for proof of funds (or anything else) by IO at BKK.

Now with that being said, as far as what the official (thai language version, not some b/s engrish translation) of the real entry rule is governing extensions of stays, I got no idea.

I have never heard of a single case where someone on a yearly extension of any type was asked for proof of funds when re-entering the country..
