Hi everyone. I currently have a student visa which will expire on the 17th. I just got my new passport, so my student visa is in my old passport, which I still have. Is it ok to show both passports at the airport? Or do I need to go to immigration to get the visa transferred over? I am hoping the first option, because I have a family emergency so I booked a rushed flight for tomorrow night. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about traveling with an expiring student visa in an old passport while holding a new passport. They received advice confirming that showing both passports at the airport is acceptable, but they should be cautious about returning after the visa's expiration date.

Yes, you can show both passports at the airport. Be aware that if you return after the 17th you need to start the whole visa proces again.

Than I will ask you to remove this, we do not mention or advertise agents who provide visa service in Thailand.

Normally no problem to leave. Get some documentation of the emergency at home, when you come back in Krabi visit the Immigration and explain why you left in a hurry and still want to cancel this Extenion of Stay. They are reasonable people in Krabi Immigration.

ok well thatโ€™s not possible. I have to get home. So are they going to tell me I cannot leave the country?
Robert *******
You must cancel this in Krabi, the place where you got it.

no I didnโ€™t have to leave the country. Just had to go to immigration which was in Krabi. So my next concern is does it matter if I go to immigration in Bangkok then? I will have to try to go tomorrow as my flight leaves tomorrow evening.

If you checked in at Immigration Office you must cancel this Extension of Stay. IF you went every 3 months over the border than you had a visa and it will be no problem.

oh yes, it is an extension I guess? My visa is good for one year but I had to go every 3 months to do my check in. So I do have to go to immigration? Seems odd Iโ€™d have to cancel it if itโ€™s expiring anyway and Iโ€™m leaving the country.

@Shannon *****
Correct, if it is an Extenstion of Stay it must be cancelled at Immigration before departure.

Is it an extension of an ED visa (every 3 months) or did you happen to have a 1 year ED visa that didn't need extensions every 3 months? If extension stamp of a ED visa I believe it is suppose to be cancelled. Is this correct

Yes, my one year visa is ending anyway so good timing on that. I will come back on a different visa. Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
