Quick advise needed. My passport expired recently and I was issued a new one. My visa stamp is in the old passport. Would I be able to get in and out of Bangkok if I bring both my old and new passports or do I really have to go to Chaeng Wattana to have them transferred the visa chop to the new passport. I’m up for renewal in November so I’m hoping to save the trip…Any experience/ advise. Many thanks.
FYI - I hold a Singapore passport which means every passport is issued a new number.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your visa is in an old passport that has expired, you can typically travel with both your old and new passports without needing to transfer the visa to the new one. However, experiences differ; some recommend transferring the visa at Chaeng Wattana, especially if you hold a long-term visa such as a NON-O. Most users report successfully traveling with both passports, while a few had issues that were resolved at immigration. It's advisable to bring documentation and possibly take photos of your visa and both passports for clarity when traveling.

its also free to get the stamp transferred to the new passport at a immigration office .i done it when mine got rain damaged and had to get a new one as most the stamps got fudged lol. they gave me a new number too instead of a replacement passport .uk one.
Not a problem, just bring both passports. Preferably, your new passport has some information stated on your old passport in the comments page of your new Singapor passport
I faced the same problem early this year. I got a new passport from German embassy. I went to Chaeng Wattana to transfer my NON O and they send me home saying no problem. I went out to Malaysia and returned back to Thailand a few days later without any issue. Got anther 90 days.
I had a NON O multiple entries. After like 80 days I have spent some days in Penang. Then returned back to BKK and stayed there for another 4 weeks about. In total about like 125 days
I just did it with mine, just renewed, and sent it straight away to immi to do the change my work visa from the old to the new one...you may want to take a photo in your phone of the old and new one, and also of the stamp of the visa, in case the stop you, cos the whole process take a month more or less
If you have an extension of stay, you need to get it transferred. If you have a visa from an embassy, you can't get it transferred and need to use both passports.
so you are saying if i have a long term visa - yearly renewal - I will need to get it transferred to my new passport? I can’t just carry two passports?
you cannot renew a visa. You can apply for an extension and it's a brand new application every year. If the stamp in your passport says "extension of stay" then you have an extension, not a visa. You must transfer it.
