Quick advise needed. My passport expired recently and I was issued a new one. My visa stamp is in the old passport. Would I be able to get in and out of Bangkok if I bring both my old and new passports or do I really have to go to Chaeng Wattana to have them transferred the visa chop to the new passport. I’m up for renewal in November so I’m hoping to save the trip…Any experience/ advise. Many thanks.
FYI - I hold a Singapore passport which means every passport is issued a new number.
TLDR : Answer Summary
If your visa is in an old passport that has expired, you can typically travel with both your old and new passports without needing to transfer the visa to the new one. However, experiences differ; some recommend transferring the visa at Chaeng Wattana, especially if you hold a long-term visa such as a NON-O. Most users report successfully traveling with both passports, while a few had issues that were resolved at immigration. It's advisable to bring documentation and possibly take photos of your visa and both passports for clarity when traveling.
