Can I change from marriage visa to DTV? Does it need to be cancelled first in Thailand and only then I can go to some other country to apply for DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can change from a marriage visa (Non-O) to a DTV visa, but you need to exit Thailand first to cancel your marriage visa and then apply for the DTV visa at a Thai embassy or consulate in another country. It is generally advised to obtain a re-entry permit if you plan to keep your current visa active while abroad; otherwise, leaving without it will result in the cancellation of your marriage visa. Users have reported that once approved for the DTV visa, the old visa is automatically canceled.
If and when you are approved for DTV, your old visa will automatically be canceled

The DTV visa must be obtained outside of Thailand. If you don't have a "Re-Entry" permit, your Family visa will be canceled as soon as you leave Thailand. You can therefore obtain the DTV visa from the Thai embassy in Vietnam, Cambodian, Malaysia, etc... I used this agency it's super responsive and offers good value for money.

If this isn't an public service announcement against marrying a Thai and hoping that you can settle here based on that as a foreigner, I don't know what is.

Huh? You're making things up. A lot of people are switching to DTVs but to be honest, it isn't always the best idea.

Yes I have. Just leave the country to cancel the visa. Yes you can only apply from an embassy outside of Thailand.
I had a nightmare cancelling O with multi re-entry. Embassy would not process B. Flew back to Thailand and asked at BKK to enter visa exempt. Would not and woukd not cancel O. Went to issuing office and they cancelled with 7 days to leave. Did border run to Cambodia and back on exempt. Flew to Singapore for 2nd time and applied and got the B. Got 2 free trips out of it and met up with ex colleagues in Singapore so all good in the end.

If you do not have a re-entry permit your O is cancelled if yiu leave the country. Might be easiest. I had a nightmare cancelling an O Retirement with a multi Re-Entry permit to move to a B. Hope it is easier for you to move to a DTV.

1. Can chage. Your Non-O will cancel automaticly when you get DTV
Do you have experience of this? There is another poster says must cancel O first. In my case O had to be cancelled before getting a B. Embassy would not issue the B while O was active. Is it different for DTV?
I reply to many people. I am asking you a perfectly reasonable question. You stated that the O will be cancelled by the Embassy when DTV is issued. A) Have you done this or B) point to where someone else has done it. Pretty simple asking you to back up your assertions.

You must cancel your previous visa first.

You can just exit the country, go apply for the DTV visa at a thai consulate in another country via the online eVisa website, then come back on the DTV
You do not need to cancel your extension of stay based on marriage (that you got from the immigration office here) before you go get the DTV
