Hello! My husband and I have a 1 year Retirement visa based on 65k monthly deposits. We renewed our visas in April 2026 and the next renewal will be in April 2027. We are considering to switch from the 65 k monthly deposits to the 800k money in the bank.

Hello! My husband has a 1 year Retirement visa based on 65k monthly deposits and I have one as a dependent/spouse. We renewed our visas in April 2026 and the next renewal will be in April 2027. We are considering switching from the 65 k monthly deposits to the 800k money in the bank.

If we deposit the 800k now, can we stop bringing the monthly 65k at any time now and safely be able to renew our visa in April 2027?

Thank you for your answers!
Answer summary
The poster and their husband currently have 1-year Retirement visas based on 65,000 THB monthly deposits. They are considering switching to the requirement of having 800,000 THB in a bank account. They inquire if they can stop the monthly deposits after making the large deposit and still be eligible for visa renewal in April 2027. The conversation primarily revolves around visa types, deposit requirements, and the process of switching from monthly deposits to a lump sum in a bank account.

Been asked to show my e-visa too as they compare it to what they see on their screen. Pretty standard.

Firstly, you haven't printed off your e-visa to carry it with you, and Secondly you dont have your phones or devices linked so you can share files. Do you actually think you are competent enough to be travelling internationally?

And then you feel like you you have to share your stupidity with this group. Honestly 🙄 🤔🤨

The IO was correct, its your problem!

Just a heads up, how about you print that PDF that the embassy emailed you and your Visa was approved because that actually is your Visa.

Present that print out along with your passport when you stamp in and you will have no problem.

Lack of preperation and then pointing fingers.

Be more prepared next time 😁:

- Access the official Thailand Visa app and download it again

- Keep the print-out or laminated copy ready at all times

- Keep a copy saved on your drive (cloud)

I never once said I blamed the io for not having it but he could of easily checked just like his manager did instead of just saying its your problem

When you applied for and granted the Visa through the eVisa website you are requested to print out your visa to show immigration or airlines. Please follow the instructions.

During one of the METV entries few years ago, the IO flicked through my passport pages, showed me a sticker visa and asked me if that was it. I was like - dude, isn't it on your system already?!

You should have received instructions with the visa that it needs to be presented when entering Thailand.

UnforgettableRambutan8343 no the phone i took to Singapore was only 2 weeks old (brought just for the camera for the trip) so I didn't have anyway of accessing the info there and then on the spot so he sent me to his manager who just checked it up

I assumed with the dtv being linked to my passport/immigration records it wouldn't be needed as this can be checked electronically by the io which is what they did in the end

packsinpost I guess if you would have memorized your visa number they would have accepted it aswell

The visa is a PDF file, isn't it? You can store it in all your phones 🤔

Even log in at the Immigration website and download it again and again.

Of course you need your visa. All that you have in your passport is the immigration entry stamp.

Not an issue now, but it doesn’t say anything about where it was issued, for what, when it expires, etc.

DTV_BegPecker all the io would of needed to do was check electronically as your dtv is linked to passport/immigration records but he obviously didn't want too

packsinpost linked to what passport records? Your passport is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Immigration is completely separate from them. They don’t have access to that system. When you entered the first time, do you think they wrote down all the details?

DTV_BegPecker what makes you think that in the age of computers that they don’t have access to check a visa?

packsinpost Next time, don’t chicken out! Tell the officer that it is already on his computer and he should look it up himself instead. You are super busy with multiple phones and can’t keep track of what is needed and where.

chooserich007 that's what I had to tell the second io to do 👍

packsinpost you are required to have a printed copy with you. This ‘issue’ was entirely of your own making.

packsinpost post all your self-righteous stuff you like but it won’t change the reality that the approval email says to print your DTV out and present it when entering the country.

@David ******
so yes this may have been my own doing but as its not 'required' rather strongly advised this is what im advising other people to do david

@David ******
its not actually required to have either dtv visa pdf or print out its not a mandatory document to re-enter its your passport and valid dtv which is what immigration use to check if like me you didn't have it with you
