TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the renewal process for their retirement visa due on July 27th, specifically how far in advance they can renew it, the contents of the required bank letter, and if any new documents are needed this year compared to last year. Comments indicate that it is possible to apply for a visa renewal up to 30-45 days in advance, depending on the immigration office. For documentation, they emphasize the need for a letter from the bank confirming the account balance, advising that it may need to be dated on the day of the appointment. Additionally, changes in documentation requirements, such as the need for a longer history of bank statements, may exist.

I just did mine last week here in Chiang Mai. You can do it up to 45 days before expiration. I am Non-O so no insurance needed and 800K in bank. Things I needed:
1. Back statement for 1 year (took 1 week to get from BKK Bank) (picked up on Wednesday)
2. Letter from bank confirming account and balance (picked up on Wednesday)
3. Photocopy of all pages of passport + TM30. (sign all pages)
4. Photocopy of all pages of bank book updated the day you go to Imm (should have a B/F entry on the day you go to Imm. I did Thursday morning before going to Imm) (sign all pages)
5. Photo
6. The 4 forms they have at the counter for you to fill out
7. 1900 Baht.

Steve so sorry extend the visa for a year is there been anything g online saying no 90 day right now and retired O type extended for 3 months ? Thinking all offices must follow bangkok or is this not true

Every immigration office does things their own way. You have to talk to your local imm office if you're unsure of something.
Now is the time to do your extension because the offices are very quiet (I was in and out in 45 minutes). And, nobody knows what will happen after the visa amnesty ends so... just do it so you don't regret it. I can see them saying you have to start all over again if you don't extend your current visa before expiration date.

You don't renew a visa.
You apply for an extension of stay.
Go to your local immigration office and ask for an updated list of requirements.

I was just wondering my wife is telling me that right now is just and you don't have to do the 90-day check in not even online and that you're retired Visa that expires right now is automatic extended for 3 months is any of this information correct

I always get a new list of requirements from my immigration office. Every year some things change.
On the list I get, they also mention the letter from the bank in Thai. That is easy to show to people working at the bank. Without it I would never be able to explain what I need, because they always look a bit puzzled when I show them.

The best thing to do is to go to your immigration office and ask what is needed they may also give you a print out if you ask.

James I agree totally with this advice. I took my Thai wife with me as she completes all of my paperwork. We sat down with the man at immigration in Soi 5 Pattaya in late May this year. Went through all of the requirements even though we had done the same extension at the same place one year ago.
2 things had changed. One was the insurance requirement as I have a Non Immigrant O-A visa originally issued in Australia.
The second change was that I now had to produce 12 months bank statements from my bank in addition to the standard bank letter. I also had to produce all bank books covering the same 12 months. My latest bank book had to be updated the day prior to coming in for the extension. The previous year I only needed 2 months bank statements to show the 800,000 baht had been there for the required time. Now they are also checking to see that you have maintained the minimum balance of 400,000 baht for the whole year.
On the day I did the extension it took all of 10 minutes and I picked up my passport the following day.
Time well spent.

You can apply 30 days before at some immigration offices.
You will need copy of bank book print out the day you go to immigration and a letter from the bank stating the amount thats in your bank.
