Hello group.

Im in a retirement visa up here in Chiangmai. My annual renewal date is december 12. I do the actual renewal 2-3 weeks before. The question is. What date is used for the 800.000 to be in the account 3 month ? .. is the "visa date" or the actual date when you do the renewal ?.. wkr Henrik

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing a retirement visa in Thailand (specifically in Chiang Mai), the 800,000 baht requirement must be met in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months before the application for renewal. Therefore, if you plan to apply for renewal 3 weeks before the expiration (e.g., around November 21), you need to ensure the 800,000 baht is in the account by the end of August. It's important to remember that this stipulation refers to full calendar months, not accumulative days.

I believe in both cases, and as exampled by Tod, it is full calender months, not accumatilive days (equating to an average month), therefore March 1st.

In Chiang Mai you can apply for a new yearly extension when you have 45 days left on your current extension.

The seasoning of the banked money method is 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you APPLY for the extension (not from when the current extension runs out)

so if you're applying 3 weeks before your current extension expires or about Nov 21st you would need to have the 800k baht in a thai bank account buy the end of Aug.

The three months comes in to play because you need to keep the 800K baht in the bank account for 3 months after your extension is granted
