Can I switch banks for my Non-O retirement visa extension after using Kasikorn for 65K deposits?

Due to problems with Wise not marking international payments as international I'm just wondering if I can do the following:

I already have a Bangkok Bank account already with the requisite 800k which I'll be using to obtain my Non-O retirement 1 year extension in mid January (the money has been there for many months).

I also have a Kasikorn account, which I believe Wise payments will show as international deposits, if I pay in 65K for 12 months and after 12 months will I be able to switch the visa to the Kasikorn account and then carry on with the 65K method

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the query about switching banks for a Non-O retirement visa extension in Thailand. The individual has concerns about using Wise for international transfers and is considering whether they can switch from a Bangkok Bank account—where they have maintained the required 800,000 THB—to a Kasikorn account after depositing 65,000 THB monthly for 12 months. It is clarified that while one can use both banks for the visa, immigration requires presenting statements from both banks showing the required amounts and international deposits. Additionally, specific documentation can be requested from Kasikorn Bank to confirm the international nature of deposits from Wise.

I got a retirement visa and a bank account. My account gas ฿5,000 in it visa cost ฿2000 for 18 months. My money is mine.

As for Wise you have to select the currency of the receiver. If you are using the same currency, depending on your wallet. It won't show international. International comes with horrendous fees
Alan *****
When using wise they use a Thai bank & then it goes thru as a local payment. But if you put the reason for the transaction as purchasing property it goes thru with the correct code
Alan *****
When transferring through wise, put the reason for the transaction is to purchase property, then it will go through with the correct code. It’ll take a couple of days to go through
Raymond *********
First, when you make your Wise transfer, choose the reason for

Funds for long stay in Thaïland

By défaut wise will take the reason you choose the first time

It can be corrected.

Second, at Kasikorn Bank the reason for teansfer will apoear as Trade Finance , which is their translation for international transfer, weird, i know
Andie ***********
So let me get this right, the situation is the IO requires proof that the funds remitted came from overseas, but the banks in Thailand are not sophisticated enough to be able to add a code/marker to indicate that?
Kay ********
@Andie **********
if you use wise, it will sent money from one Thai Bank to your Thai Bank account.

This is where they save the money and can make it cheap.

The change there buisness partner(Bank in Thailand, this make the problem)
Dany ********
@Kay *******
but Wise isnt even the cheapest so
Kay ********
@Dany *******
But still cheap.

@Sam *****
its working for me when I use the long term transfer reson
Articulat**********
Kasikorn does not show as international transfer either. You need to get a physical confirmation from any branch, it’s routine to them.
John **********
Yes you can do that but you will need to honour the terms of the extension based on 800k for the full period of the extension. When it comes to the next extension you will need to show 12 months of statements from both banks. Bangkok Bank to show you honoured the terms of the extension based on 800k and Kasikorn to show you have 12 months of transfers from overseas of a minimum of 65k baht every month for the previous 12 months
Bob **********
Yes
Matty ****
Wise blocked me after just $4,000 in transfers..lol

Now the transfers take 5 days..

Just a regular bank wire is quicker.

48 hours is fine
Tony *******
I had the same happen but the next morning it was back to almos Immediately but the charge doubled
Dany ********
@Matty ***
use Revolut. its faster, cheaper and accepts all swift codes.
Farang *********
Personally will not use third party agents for money. Transfer bank to bank. No issues.
David *******
Just out of curiosity....anybody having issues using wise card to take money from ATM....everytime I get on the screen "insufficient data"
Sean ***********
@David ******
try reversing the side of the card you have on the upside. I think the card readers are on the other side.
Robert ********
You need to check the box for reason of transfer in Wise as funds for long term stay in Thailand.
Andie ***********
@Robert *******
as has been said, that option is not there anymore
Kevin ******
It was reinstated. I just made my transfer two days ago.
Robert ********
@Andie **********
they put that option back shortly after because of complaining
Dany ********
@Andie **********
and what is this? lol…
Andie ***********
@Dany *******
you again, thinking you're smart, but the opposite, I'm not saying the choice isn't there, if you read the post, the poster advises the option to use that choice no longer results in the funds showing up in bank accounts as remitted from overseas because Wise now uses a different partner holding bank in Thailand and it is this holding bank who send the money to the recipient bank which will show as a domestic transfer not an overseas one. Understand?
Ian ********
is my strategy in progress.

have made the 3rd 65k transfer to my Kasikorn and hopefully the IO will accept this at extension time enabling the freeing up of the 800k in SCB.
Alison ********
BKB show wise as international, Kasikorn does not as Wise have a Kasikorn account to hold money before being sent to your personal account and they still won’t give you the paperwork required as international transfer. This was the case a few years ago, it may have changed
Bigd **********
@Alison *******
I have kasikorn and it does, must make correct choice on Wise drop down
Colin **********
Kasikorn Bank (KBank) routinely issues these forms for Wise transfers marked as foreign inflows, unlike recent issues with Bangkok Bank where deposits often lack proper international coding.Request the form at any KBank branch with your passport, account details, and transaction reference—typically free or low-cost (under 100 THB) and issued same-day if the transfer qualifies.
Sean ***********
@Colin *********
I'm note so sure abut this, because i was in a Kbank today to get these and they simply did not want to deal with me beause I am not a Kbank customer. You say that you brought in your passport and account details - which account are you referring to - a Kbank account or other ?
Colin **********
@Sean **********
so which bank do you get it paid into?
Brandon ************
If the 800k has not been in your Bangkok Bank account for 2 months at the time you apply for your extension, you cannot use that for an extension. You will also be required to keep it at 800k for 3 months after your extension and it can never drop below 400k until next year.

But none of that matters. Just go to Kasikorn Bank and get a credit advice showing that the money sent from Wise was an international transfer, and submit that with your bank statement showing monthly transfers.
Tony **********
You don't switch immigration extensions to banks, it is done by the method. You could have the 65k/month go to either bank or a combination of both. You will need to provide immigration with 12 months of statements from both banks and credit receipts for each international deposit for 12 consecutive months.

Remember that making life easier for the IO will pay off in speed of processing and fewer trips. So I'd suggest all your 64k deposits be done at one bank.
Ian ********
@Tony *********
that's their plan.

currently 800k in 1 bank and setting up a 65k monthly transfer at a different bank to utilise after a year.

that's what I'm doing - am at month 3 on the 65k deal so by the time my extension is due I can use either.

if the IO accepts the 65 deal then I have 800k of fun money I won't need to keep locked up.

@Ian *******
that’s my intention

All my transfers from UK via Wise to Bangkok Bank show as International Transfers
Frank **********
@Peter ******
mine does not.
Bigd **********
@Frank *********
what drop down choice are you choosing?
Frank **********
@Bigd *********
funds for long term stay in Thailand or whatever the exact wording on the drop down menu. The Wise transaction receipt shows that on the transfer but my Bangkok Bank Account records it as a transfer from another bank in Thailand. Don't remember the exact wording.
Michael *******
There is a box you need to tick under reason for transfer - long term stay in Thailand was included for precisely the reason you mention - if you fail to do it then yes it will show as a local transfer.
Frank **********
@Michael ******
that is exactly what I used " long term stay in Thailand". Like I said it changed several months ago.
Sean ***********
@Frank *********
I have heard that 'funds for long term' stuff a lot over the past couple of years, but I don't think it is actually correct. Since I heard that, probably 18 months ago, I have always made sure i put it into all of my transfers to TH. But I have now hit issues caused by Wise moving to Kasinkorn Bank as their partner at the end of Aug 2025, and all of my transfers since end of August are now showing as domestic transfers and the 'funds for long terms stay' has not made one iota of difference.
Frank **********
@Sean **********
that is the issue I had. Didn't matter when I selected funds for Thailand as it was not coded as an international transfer.
Michael *******
Been doing it for past 2 years….once you start it defaults to that reason every month but I check all the same…….
Peter *******
@Frank *********
Did you request Wise tag your account to instruct all transfers via Bangkok Bank not an intermediary
Frank **********
@Peter ******
they were showing as International until about 3 months ago the started to show up as domestic transfer. Wise used Kasikorn as a partner bank.
Peter *******
@Frank *********
they also still use BBL. You need to contact Wise and request a tag is put on your account to always use BBL as partner for your transfers
Frank **********
@Peter ******
it's okay I already opened up a new account with Kasikorn. Going to drop Bangkok Bank after my next extension if I am still in Thailand.
Peter *******
Paul **********
You get a letter from your bank on the day you submit your extension application and they will state there have been international payments made into your Thai bank account. All the banks are familiar with this.

There's a FAQ on the Wise website about it.
James ************
@Paul *******
nope. Wise no longer comes through as international. They stopped about a year ago.
Julian *******
@James ***********
wrong. I bank with Bangkok bank head office on silom a d my wise payment shows up as international on my bb statement
James ************
@Julian ******
before wise used to have the option to select funds for long term stay, or money home to family, or whatever. Earlier this year that went away. Along with the coding. The bank manager said. Wise transfers are no longer showing up as international transfers.
Sean ***********
@James ***********
MY bank, SCB, told me the change was made on Aug 31st 2025, when they (Wise) switched to Kasinkorn Bank as their partner bank. Prior to that, all my transfers from UK showed on my statements as international, but afterwards they all show as domestic, which is causing me big problems for my Extension of Stay.
Julian *******
@James ***********
I made a transfer 3 days ago and it shows international transfer. But as I said I bank with head office. Wise send to head office and they forward to other branches.
Carsten ************
@James ***********
what's funny about it, butthead? I'm using Wise to Bangkok Bank for almost 10 years. It comes through as international transfer almost every time. Sometimes a Partner Bank is involved. In that case you may ask for a FET, if needed.
James ************
@Carsten ***********
Bangkok bank specifically told me otherwise. After a certain date in 2025, wise changed their coding. So, it no longer shows up as an international transfer. Just say WISE. I belive the bank manager over a douchebag on the internet. You can send wise transfers to and from Thailand. And within thailand. And it all coded the same.
Carsten ************
@James ***********
false info! It depends on chosen reason for transfer and receiving bank.
James ************
@Carsten ***********
sure thing bud. It happened to me. So, i know 100% fact its not showing up as international.
Carsten ************
@Paul *******
my experience:

You get a letter from your home branch only.

The processing time was 1 week.
Paul **********
@Carsten ***********
thanks. Ill check beforehand.
Carsten ************
@Paul *******
edit:

if one or more transactions are not marked as international transfer ( that's what happened to the op) processing time at your home branch is about 1 week. If you have all 12 transfers marked correctly, you might get the statement on the spot and at any branch.
Andy **********
If you have Bangkok Bank account see if your home country has a branch and do the payments through them.

I used to do that a BB branch in London. Transfer from my normal bank to them in GBP and they then did the Intl transfer and exchange rate which was a good rate
